Introduction to Aceh Island

Aceh is the one of interesting island in Indonesia. In the past, Aceh was called as Special Province of Aceh or “Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam” (2001-2009). Aceh is the one of Indonesia provinces which is located at the northern of Indonesia, currently in Sumatra. The capital city of Aceh is Banda Aceh. The harbor of Aceh is Malahayati-Krueng Raya, Ulee Lheue, Sabang, Lhokseumawe, and Langsa.  Aceh put great memorial for Indonesia, where Aceh got a big disaster in 2004. Tsunami attacked most of Aceh Island at that moment. There are more than 100.000 people who were lost or dead – many public facilities were broken. But now, in Aceh there has been a big restoration, and now Aceh is changed into more beautiful islands. Along Aceh, you will see that there were many natural resources like forest (wood), petroleum, gold, natural gas, coffee, fish, and spices. Some of herbal spices in Aceh have a big function as herbal medicine.  When we visit Aceh, we will see many unique historical, cultures, and delicious special traditional food. Aceh Island has 5 governmental cities; they are Banda Aceh, Langsa, Lhoseumawe, Sabang, and Subulussalam. Aceh has 18 regencies also.  When you are visiting this island, you could see some unique culture, art, and literature. Here they have:

In Aceh has special weapons which looked like a letter of “L”. The name of this is “Rencong”. The traditional house of Aceh called Rumoh Aceh. This traditional house  is kind of houses on stilts. This house has 3 main parts and 1 part as the additional. Those 3 main parts is seuramoë keuë (front location), seuramoë teungoh (middle location) dan seuramoë likôt(back location). The additional part is called rumoh dapu as the kitchen part. In Aceh island has 10 tribes. These 10 tribes spread out all over in Aceh Island. These 10 tribes has their own traditional dances. The familiar traditional dances are called Saman Rateb Meuseukat dance – and the other dances are Laweut, Lokok Pulo, Pho, Ratoh Duek, Bines, Munalulu. In Aceh island offers many tourism like beach. Its beach is very beautiful and exotic.
